It describes the traditional approaches of Soviet-European piano pedagogy, which for a long time dominated in China, highlighting their characteristic shortcomings: rigid and uniform curricula, exam-oriented instruction, and emphasis on technical proficiency at the expense of the learner’s interest. Particular attention is given to modern methods based on the principles of general pedagogy and child psychology, including learning driven by interest and emotional engagement, the use of play-based and creative techniques, heuristic and experience-oriented instruction, active parental involvement, and group learning formats. A comparison between historical and modern approaches is carried out, substantiating the need for a shift toward learner-centered strategies.
