What Kind Of People Should Our Children Grow Up To Be?

Abstract. The article examines a question fundamental to pedagogy and the philosophy of education: the anthropological ideal — the image of the human person that should guide upbringing. Based on a typology of absolute (Christian, Soviet) and conditional (liberal, humanistic) ideals, the author demonstrates their ontological incompatibility and the impossibility of compromise between them. Special attention is paid to a comparative analysis of the tactics, value orientations, promises, and the price of choosing each of the four ideals.
