Abstract: Archbishop Luke (Voino-Yasenetsky), canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church, was an extraordinary man. A world-renowned surgeon, Stalin Prize laureate, whose bronze bust was installed during his lifetime in the gallery of outstanding surgeons at the N. V. Sklifosovsky Institute of Emergency Medicine in Moscow, spent many years in prisons and exile for confessing his faith. For many years, he managed to combine church ministry with scientific activity and medical practice. In September 2025, Elena Shishmakova, editor-in-chief of the National Education magazine, was awarded the St. Luke’s Medal.
