Both In Battles And In Labor… O. Volodin Abstract: The author of this 1975 article is Semyon Alexandrovich Tsemakhman (1911–1995), who published under the pseudonyms “O. Volodin” and “S. Volodin”. Semyon Alexandrovich worked for many years in the magazine “Public Education”. Our most loyal readers remember his publications well, the best of which were devoted to the feat of teachers during the Great Patriotic War. Semyon Alexandrovich is a veteran soldier, the author of many reports from the active army. My colleagues remember the front-line photo that Tsemakhman took in the thick of the battle. He wrote about front-line teachers, defended the importance of this topic in those years when front-line exploits seemed commonplace to many. Today we are grateful to Semyon Alexandrovich for the preserved layers of heroic history. Memories, business trips, and conversations became the material for such essays that made up the book “The Feat Continues”. The book was published in 1985 and remains to this day the best study of war hero teachers. Unfortunately, this book has not been republished in recent years, but its relevance has only worsened. Fewer and fewer front-line teachers are coming to school classrooms. We can learn about many of them only from the essays of Semyon Alexandrovich Tsemakhman.
