THE CONCEPT OF MEANINGFUL TEACHING IN CARL ROGERS' PEDAGOGY

Abstract. The article is devoted to the pedagogical aspects of Carl Rogers' humanistic psychology, within the framework of which the concept of «meaningful» teaching was formed. The purpose of the article is to reveal the fundamental provisions of the concept of significant teaching of Carl Rogers, their relevance and consonance with modern challenges of education. Research methods. Comparative analysis, author's interpretation of K. Rogers' ideas, their generalization and systematization. The results of the study. The definition of the concept is given, its main provisions and methods of implementation are considered. The main differences and advantages of the concept of meaningful teaching in comparison with traditional teaching are named. In conclusion, it is noted that the key theoretical propositions of K. Rogers went beyond his psychotherapeutic practice and served as the basis for a personality-oriented approach in education. The focus of Carl Rogers' humanistic pedagogy is educational motivation as an internal motivating force that contributes to improving academic performance, cognitive activity and interest in learning activities. The novelty of the author's approach consists in identifying the pedagogical aspects of the concept of meaningful teaching
