Abstract: The article presents an analysis of research on the problem of professionalism and professional competence of a teacher, highlights a number of key positions that need to be taken into account when preparing future teachers and improving the qualifications of existing teachers, formalized the problems and “touches” to the portrait of a modern Russian teacher.
