Abstract: The tasks that the student solves independently during testing only record the level of actual development of the student and do not say anything about his intellectual capabilities. The potential of a child’s thinking is shown by his zone of immediate development — those tasks that a student solves in cooperation with an assistant, an adult or another child. We are talking about the development of tomorrow. The hypothesis of L.S. Vygotsky’s substantiation of the mechanism of learning in variable pairs by A.G. Rivin’s method of collective mutual learning is proposed. The use of the zone of proximal development in the tests of a new generation — dynamic is described.
