Abstract: The analysis of foreign experience carried out by the staff of the Center for Financial Literacy of the Research Financial Institute of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation allows us to pay attention to specific practices of participatory budgeting. The practices of school participatory (initiative) budgeting provide for the involvement of students in solving issues of spending the budget of educational organizations to improve their subject environment. School (youth) initiative budgeting is a form of direct participation of adolescents and young people in solving local issues by determining the directions of spending budget funds for the implementation of the most significant initiatives.
