Caroline Pratt's Democratic School

Abstract. The fundamental contribution of Caroline Louise Pratt, an American thinker and educator, in the development of progressive pedagogy ideas on democracy in education is shown in the paper. The practical experience of the experimental educational institution for preschool and school children, in which the educator created children' s community, embodying the main features of the free democratic society, is represented and described.
